Preventive Control

Natural enemies

Predators

  1. Lacewing
  2. Minute pirate bug
  3. Predatory mites
  4. Rove beetles
  5. Predatory thrips

Management and cultural practices

  1. Provide plants with adequate water. Water-stressed plants are prone to damage by mites (Malinoski; et. al., 2000).
  2. Remove weeds also on field margins and irrigation ditches.
  3. Avoid the use of broad spectrum insecticide for this may cause a mites' outbreak. This practice kills the natural enemies of mites and stimulates mites' reproduction (Olkowski; Daar; Olkowski, H, 1991: pp. 360-361).
