Management and cultural practices
- Clean the area of weeds and other plant debris to eliminate the shelter that harbors the snails. They love moist and
shady places.
- Plow the area to expose them to sun and predators, and leave the plowed field unsowed (fallow) for a short period to devoid them of food and shelter.
- Fields with lots of organic matter and which are moist are very attractive to snails. They also feed on organic matter in the soil. Check the organic content of your soil once a heavy presence of these pests is detected.
